Dr Joëlle C Denis is a board certified Paediatrician and a graduate of Notre Dame University in Haiti in 2010.
After her social service in Port Au Prince, she worked for 1 year in the paediatric unit of the Bernard Mevs hospital before specializing in the joint program at the University Notre Dame D’Haiti – St Damien Hospital and Bernard Mevs Hospital.
Once her Pediatrics internship was completed, she went for a paediatric cardiology training with Mecenat Chirurgie Cardiaque in Paris. Back in Haiti she opened her private practice while continuing working as a paediatrician on duty at the Bernard Mevs Hospital, where she also supervised residents in training. She also taught in two nursing programs for paediatric nurses in Haiti.
Concerned about improving the quality of care for children in Haiti, she also coordinates the paediatric clinic and is a board member of the St Vincent Health Centre for kids with disability.
She is a member of The Haitian Paediatric Association, American Association of Paediatrics and a founding member of AFMU (medical school Alumni association) where she has been the Public Relations Head, and since 2015.
Dr. Denis has been an active member of the Haiti Foundation Against Childhood Cancer (FHACI), where she has been elected Vice President of the Board in 2021.
In her free time you will find her reading, dancing , exercising or taking pictures.
Concerned about improving healthcare, her final paper for internship was about, “Benefits of Implementing Well Child Visit in Medical settings in Haiti ”.
For her, educating parents and families is the essential way to decrease paediatric mortality and morbidity.
